Frame-accurate, production-grade rotoscoping for feature films, Netflix originals, commercials, and S3D — delivered by a specialist team with 15+ years of Hollywood pipeline experience.
What we do
Rotoscoping is the art of tracing over live-action footage — frame by frame — to isolate subjects, create alpha mattes, and produce the clean separation that makes VFX invisible. Our roto artists have delivered for Hollywood studios, Netflix originals, and global ad campaigns for over 15 years.
We handle everything from single-shot beauty roto to high-volume episodic pipelines, stereoscopic S3D roto, and AI-assisted workflows — always quality-checked by a senior artist before delivery.
Pixel-perfect subject isolation with clean, anti-aliased edges — delivered as EXR, DPX, or TIFF alpha sequences ready for your compositing pipeline.
Left and right eye mattes produced in sync — preserving depth accuracy and stereo consistency across every frame of your S3D conversion pipeline.
Rough garbage mattes to isolate CG regions, and precise holdout mattes to protect practical elements during compositing — built to your pipeline specs.
Machine-learning pre-segmentation reviewed and corrected by our roto artists — dramatically faster on high-frame-count episodic work without sacrificing quality.
Our Process
We review all incoming footage, classify shots by complexity, and produce a frame-count and timeline estimate before any work begins.
Bézier or B-spline paths are drawn around the subject on key frames — with control points positioned for clean interpolation across motion.
Frames between keyframes are refined by hand. Motion blur, edge feathering, and motion-matched edge treatment applied at this stage.
Every shot is played back at full speed by a senior artist — checked for edge chatter, temporal consistency, and matte fringing before delivery.
Clean EXR or DPX alpha sequences — delivered to your pipeline naming convention, colour space, and frame range spec on schedule.
Methods
Bézier and B-spline paths keyframed around the subject — the industry standard for clean, revisable mattes on any shot complexity or frame rate.
Planar track data drives spline motion on rigid or semi-rigid surfaces — dramatically reducing hand-work on fast-moving, consistent objects.
Deep-learning models pre-segment subjects frame by frame. Every result is corrected and approved by a roto artist before it leaves the studio.
Pressure-sensitive brush tools used for organic edges — hair, fur, water, and fabric — where splines can't follow the fine detail required.
Paired left-and-right-eye matte production with convergence checks — ensuring depth values and edge positions stay consistent across both views.
Camera motion blur and subject motion blur replicated on matte edges using ZMatte or Keylight edge tools — so mattes hold at full resolution.
