What we do

Cinema-quality
compositing, every shot

VFX compositing is the art of assembling multiple visual elements — live-action plates, CGI renders, matte paintings, and digital effects — into a single, seamless, photorealistic frame. Our compositors have delivered for Hollywood studios, Netflix originals, and global commercial campaigns for over 15 years.

We handle everything from green screen keying and CGI integration to full shot finishing and DI prep — always QC'd on a calibrated cinema display by a senior compositor before delivery.

🎞️
Green & Blue Screen Keying

Industry-grade chroma keying combined with manual roto for perfect edge detail on hair, glass, and motion blur — spill suppressed and ready for any background replacement.

🪐
CGI Integration & Light Matching

CG renders composited into live-action plates with colour-matched lighting, shadow passes, light wrapping, and motion blur matching — making digital elements fully believable.

🌆
Matte Painting Integration

Digital environments composited with parallax-correct camera movement, atmospheric depth, and seamless horizon blending — sets that feel truly infinite.

👁️
Stereo Compositing (S3D)

Full stereo composite pipeline with sub-pixel L/R alignment, disparity-matched VFX elements, stereo colour consistency, and vergence-correct delivery for cinema S3D.

Our Process

How compositing works

01
Shot Breakdown

All incoming elements reviewed — plates, CG passes, mattes — each shot classified by complexity with a timeline and format spec agreed before work begins.

02
Element Assembly

CG passes, roto mattes, and plate layers assembled into a clean node tree. Background, mid-ground, and foreground elements organised by depth.

03
Integration & Polish

Light matching, colour correction, shadow integration, light wrapping, and grain matching applied — every element treated to match the original camera.

04
QC Review

Every shot played back at full resolution on a calibrated cinema display by a senior compositor — checked for edge chatter, colour consistency, and temporal stability.

05
Delivery

EXR or DPX sequences — or embedded Nuke scripts — delivered to your pipeline naming convention, colour space, and frame range spec, on schedule.

Methods

Techniques we use

🔑
Chroma Keying

Nuke Primatte, Keylight, and IBK Colour used for primary green/blue screen extraction — combined with roto for hair, glass, and fine edge detail.

💡
Light Matching & Wrapping

CG elements graded to match on-set lighting with shadow, AO, and reflection passes layered in — light wrap applied to blend edges with the live plate.

🌫️
Atmospheric & Depth Effects

Volumetric haze, depth-of-field, lens distortion, and vignettes applied to integrate distant elements and match the natural falloff of the original lens.

🖼️
Matte Painting Integration

2.5D parallax matte paintings projected onto geometry — integrated with correct camera motion, atmospheric depth, and environmental lighting to feel fully real.

👁️
Stereo (S3D) Compositing

Paired L/R composite production using Nuke Ocula — sub-pixel stereo alignment, disparity-matched VFX elements, and full vergence QC for cinema S3D release.

🎨
Shot Finishing & DI Prep

Grain matching, lens artefact replication, final colour correction, and HDR/SDR DI prep — delivered in DCI-P3, Rec.709, or Rec.2020 for any platform.

FAQ

Common questions

We work with EXR (multi-channel and single), DPX, ProRes, ARRIRAW, RED RAW, and TIFF sequences. For colour spaces we support ACEScg, ACES 1.0, ARRI LogC, RED Log3G10, Rec.709, and DCI-P3. Delivery is in whatever format your DI pipeline requires.
Yes — we accept render passes from any 3D application including Houdini, Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender, and 3ds Max. We work with standard industry render passes (beauty, diffuse, specular, shadow, AO, reflections, motion vectors) and can advise on which passes will give the best integration result.
Yes — episodic pipelines are a core part of our work. We've delivered compositing for Netflix USA episodes, Prime Video originals, and long-running broadcast series. We can scale compositor headcount to meet any weekly shot quota while maintaining consistent look and quality standards across a full season.
Our primary compositing tool is Nuke (full, not just NukeX) for all node-based work. We also use Autodesk Flame for conform and broadcast finishing, After Effects for motion graphics integration, and DaVinci Resolve for colour grading and DI. For stereo work we use Nuke Ocula and Mistika.
Absolutely. We sign a full NDA before any footage or brief is shared, and all data is handled on secured, access-controlled servers. We have 15+ years of NDA-protected work with Hollywood studios — confidentiality is non-negotiable for us.
